$4,000 and they ought to change the aperture to 1.8 and throw in macro. I think it'll be $2,799.99. Very reasonable and conveniently somewhere between your price and many others'.

Someone (from the UK) on SportsShooter says that he started shooting with this lens today...

He didn't say what it cost but the UK prices that have been noted here are steep...
This is the first time that I've seen anyone comment on having actually used one of them (probably a early production model of some sort).

Seriously?

On price, I doubt it'll surpass the Nikon version. They'll beat it, if only slightly. Canon's equivalent lenses are almost always cheaper than Nikon. I really doubt the improvements are going to be worth ~$700-1000.

I would guess as well that $3500-$3800 CDN is likely the price range it will fall in here when it is released in Canada. The mkI is around $2100 CDN. I can not see Canon charging only a extra few hundred more on top of the mkI for the mkII. And I don't think they have to be as competitive with Nikon with this lens. Typically the person buying this type of lens will already be heavily invested in other Canon gear, and to make a switch over to Nikon (or another company), simply because of one lens, doesn't make sense. Photography is an expensive hobby....

^^ Yeah, but going by the Japanese price (which is on the Japan site) that's too high.

Maybe it could be $2600 USD. I don't know how that would translate into Canadian $.

'I amoungst others was one of the biggest complainers about the old 70-200 2.8 IS because to be frank it was a very poor lens in build and sharpness was awful.....'

I don't agree with either of those points.

This is more hyped up than the 100L. The price went down fast lol.

I believe this will be 1,399 - 2.399 max.
