I agree! I am hoping that the price of the 500d come down sooner than later. I don't need the video, and the 18mp doesn't tickle me...BUT I would have jumped on the T21 if the fps was a bigger jump from 3.4 to 3.7

my camera now feels obsolete!

If you're referring to the reduced buffer numbers from the T1i, I have the feeling that the smaller number is likely due to the three megapixels more being pushed down to the card.

Just my thoughts on it, though.

Yep, probably same size buffer, but bigger files, and at a faster rate. Sucks, but they want you to buy a 50D, or 7D, or 1D.

I think there is a technical reason for this, the one I mentioned above, but bear in mind that Canon apparently purposely cut down the burst rate of the XS for RAW, down to 1.5fps, so they could squarely put that camera a notch below the XS.

Yeah, I was referring to the T1i. I guess it's the same processor?!

No, it's not. The 550D uses the Digic 4 processor, not the Digic III. But that doesn't matter, if the buffer memory isn't large enough.
