Another vote for the XTi.

I started with the XTi, then a 40D, and now a 7D. Despite it's limitations, I've done some of my best work with the XTi.

i can shoot with the XTi. I started there. My G3 would probably suit me fine for many shots. F2.0 is awesome there.

Lenses and accessories aside, say you had to sell your current body(s) and downgrade in order to have money to eat. What is the lowest end camera that you could *practically* use? And for what reason? I don't want everybody saying a 300D would be fine just because they think they are awsome photographer. But if it is, then that is fine. :)

For me, and for what I shoot, I could live with a Rebel Xti (400d). It's got good IQ at ISO1600, the LCD is big enough for me to see, and I don't really need the FPS that my 20d/30d can put out.

a 5dmkII

A digital camera with manual controls and can take EF lenses is my min.

So I'd take my Canon D30(yes, D30, not 30D) back. I look at pics my bro took with his D30 10 years ago and it blows away most of the crap I see on forums. I should have kept mine if only because it was my first SLR. :)

I still use my XTi. Does that count for low end :)

Too much stuff, not enough shooting time.

XTi +1 ;)

Photography is about GEAR and not talent or practice. Practice won't make you a better photographer. Expensive equipment will. =D

A 1D mark 1. I mostly shoot sports so I really need the AF of the 1-series, but I can make do with the low MP count and poor ISO ability. I could even shoot with a 1v if film wasn't so expensive.

No... a 40D is not a snob... a 40D is reasonable... these are snobs =P

After the OP's clarification, lowest I would shoot with is 1DmkIV.

Saint728 wrote in post #9576761 (external link)
I'd probably go as low as a 5D Mark II or a 1D Mark III. I'd take the Mark III before the 5D Mark II because of the build and FPS.

Take Care,
Cheers, Patrick
