I just used this download tutorial series. Simply put, 'Amazing'. Calvin finds irritatingly simple ways to do things i've spent hours on.

Calvin's specialty lies in blending modes of layers and how to extract the most information from them. He speaks slowly and the DVD is very easy to understand and follow. All source files are included in the download to follow along exactly. High res too.

As for the download vs. physical DVD itself, it was a slight pain to download, but once i got it, i couldn't stop watching...

Everyone remember this SWAT Team retouching series?

Calvin's DVD goes into detail on how you can do pretty much the same thing.

Can be purchased here:

$95USD for over 4 hours of specialized retoucher training.

Here is an example of my learnings. Nothing special until you discover that there is no tonemapping/HDR crap. Just straight up dodging and burning... with some blending modes mixed in.

Dam, nobody heard of Calvin Hollywood? Pretty well known in the retouching world. You'll see him on Scott Kelby in the coming weeks. I'm excited to see what he comes up with next.

Another example. Sorry i don't have any beauty retouch examples. It's cold here and we have our first clients this weekend. :)

Before:

and,

After:

Not perfect, but the client LOVES it. They wanted the water more blue than i had it originally.

Dam, nobody heard of Calvin Hollywood?

Yeah, I did.
Watched a tutorial by him one. Nice, but couldn't stand the "Schwarzenegger" accent. ;)

René yes, compared to the soft dutch accent i can understand. I'm seeing Frank Doorhof in March, he has the opposite of Calvin's voice. :)

Are you aware that he posts over at retouchpro.com?

Love your shoreline/architecture shot, btw.

I know the guy (not that strange when you realize we lived in the same small village in Germany). He is really good in Photoshop. He has a blog and a photoshop forum as well. He is a good presenter as well...

Yep, he's all over the net for retouchers. That was the key to his DVD. He's easy to understand and explains the theory as to why you are doing what you are doing.
