Godwins's law of online discussions says that the longer a topic is debated the more likely that someone will be called a **** (4 letter word beginning with N for national socialist party) or Hitler. (a version of this law also says that is the functional end of the discussion as going foward is pointless).

I think there is a corollary to that for POTN that says the longer a photo topic is debated the greater the liklihood that someone will invoke Ansel Adams to prove a point.

Can you think of any other of photo specific laws like this?

My surname is Godwin!

Yeah, I have one. The longer a thread goes, someone will inevitably post "It's not the equipment that matters it's the photographer".

Which is of course, entirely true and I wish I would remember that every time I get a silly idea that a better camera body is going to magically fix my crappy compositions.

A better lens will make your crappy composition sharper, but not necessarily better. Some things just can't be shined. I know this all too well.

Ansel Adams said something similar. It was.......

Once someone (usually someone fairly new to the fourm) say in evidence of some point they had read something on Ken Rockwell's site (and provides a link) well that thread is only going in one direction from there on in and it is not toward a pretty (or happy) place.

Any discussion related to KR is bound to go in one direction (the same direction his "advice" should go)- flushed down the sewers!

This Fong you speak of, is he the one that came up with the Fing Fong Faddle?

A fing fong faddle would be just as effective as a light modifier.

I think if i had been daft enough to buy a fong bong, I would just use it as a flower pot.

At least that way it would actually be useful!
