This weekend was a bit on the boring side so this photographer I know suggested that I put a warming filter on my flash taped up with painter's tape and put the white balance on "Tungsten." I also had the Stofen on and the zoom wide panel out during all of this.

I am really interested to hear what you guys think.

Your a great photographer brotha!
but..i dunno not really diggin the new test look.
The pictures for some reason look a bit blurrier. You've always brought that sharp clarity and depth, something i always like and strive to achieve.
As well the tones seem a bit off...
Dont know... love your work, but feel these were not to your potential =]

Thanks for the compliments! Like I said, I was just trying this look out because the night was well, boring. I found that it does not work for every shot that I take, specially large crowd shots. Everything gets washed out with this bluish haze that I don't like so........I am going to keep my white balance on "Auto" from now on;)

Brought out the el cheapo ring flash from Ebay this past Saturday too. I got one photo to show the results of it and a photo of the setup. I tried it off camera but it started getting heavy so back on the flash it went. Focuses really well from what I have found.

It's worth the money though. I will take more pics with it when I get the chance but I bought it mostly for my modeling shoots:D

Thanks! I was pretty surprised he did that, came out great!

Since it was a surpise, I didn't get to mention him the random pics that I had in the archives (such as the Junkie XL and Ferry pics from Red Rocks I took for them) to not put in the video :P So you will see them in the video..as well as a quick pic of my parents too :)

Hey guys, I've been reading this thread for a while now.
Club photography is something I want to break into, and at the beginning of the thread Rukes mentioned clubplanet as a way to get your foot in the door. Well, I went to their site and finally found a working email address and sent an email to them ( they had 10 other addresses listed, none of which existed according to their servers).

Anyway, Just incase I don't hear back from them, I wanted to post here to see if anyone else knows of any other agencies like this to help me stick my foot through the door, If it helps I am looking to do Atlantic City since I live in that area.

Clubplanet doesn't pay well if at all, and their presentation is horrid.

And to be honest, this is the case for most of the other massive club photo sites out there. Tillate, NN, you name it, they treat their shooters like interchangeable units, and their rights-grabbing contracts are more suitable for wrapping fish than as a suitable work document. And yes, the presentation does stink. In the name of SEO black magic and "fast page loads" they compress the heck out of photos, and render the results of that kit you just spent a good chunk of change on as a compressed, blobby mess. Like everyone is on some sort of IP-over-avian-carrier connection routed through Outer Mongolia. They're not really photo-sites anyways, but just poorly-disguised email harvesters. Snap pretty pictures of people, force them to "log in" to see the full-size images, and boom, six months later, you've got 500,000 email addresses. Photos are just a means to an end for those sites.

Best bet these days for the itinerant club photographer? Do it yourself, or partner up with a local site where you can actually meet the people. And, believe it or not, your friendly alternative weekly newspaper might be looking for someone on a freelance basis. Our local birdcage liner is finally getting with the program and doing this actually. They're paying a friend of mine what amounts to a decent nightly wage. Now, going about it this way might not get you paid millions at first, but in the long run, you get more creative control and the ability to market and sell your photos as you see fit. It would suck if you snapped a Pulitzer-prize photo for one of the mega-sites, and you weren't able to market it accordingly, because they owned it. And, if you read through these pages, you'll see oodles of advice on how, as an independent, you can still get in the doors of some clubs without the "advantage" of a nightlife mega-site behind you. And often, those sites will dragoon and harass you to "sell advertising" and all this other unnecessary crapola.

Disclaimer time:

I ran the photo program for one of those mega-sites. I actually made some positive changes which were undone after I left, for reasons I won't get into on a public forum.
