I got my wife flowers today to show my appreciation for how great she has been doing with our 9 week old baby.

took a few pictures of them...got new extension tubes and was trying them out.

you know it's funny, when I picked these out "for her" I took extra time to make sure I got the best bunch there "for her'.

This was my first try with them and I can see it will take some practice and you need a ton of light.
I have 2 flashes off camera at near full power through umbrellas.
I tried 2.8 and the dof was so small if you breath you are oof!
Stopped down a bit I would fix the focus and just rock back and forth until the part I wanted in focus was in focus and hope for the best. fun stuff.

two more :)

Brian v.

you mean hot spots from the flash or over saturation in color?
I noticed some hot spots and the histogram showed a few spikes. Tried to tone it down in PP.

the second to last picture I actually like the blown out hot spots, for some reason it worked for me, and normally I hate that.

any advice is always welcomed :)

hrmm, I didn't tweak those much in PP.
here are the original images straight out of the camera...no PP at all, not even sharpening...just convert to jpeg.

LMAO

My wife is sitting beside me killing herself laughing. I brought flowers home last friday ... and her immediate response (even though I've brought flowers and sent her flowers before) - was "you didn't bring those home for me - you brought them to take pictures" LOL

She brags that she caught on first time and that men are so transparent LOL

That being said - WOW - great shots. I'd love to know what kind of flower #3 is - love the close up of #4. Well done.

check the saturation setting on your camera, the color all seems a little hot to me.
