Rec me a lens

I'll be going on a world tour very soon so I need your help on which lens to buy.I'll be mainly capturing Landscapes and cityscapes.

My max budget $900 for the new lens. What I'm looking for is a cheap and a good lens.
The Canon EF 24-70mm f2.8L is good but i think it's too early(started photography 3 months ago) )for me to buy that expensive lens.

This is my current kit:
Canon 1000D
Canon 50mm 1.8f
Kit lens 18-55mm ( dropped it so the AF doesn't work)
Zenit 11 58mm

Any help is appreciated.

95% of the suggestions will be for the 17-55mm f/2.8 IS USM

especially since your kit lens is busted.

You should consider getting the Canon 10-22mm and Tamron 17-50mm or Sigma 17-70mm. That would be a good setup for you and should handle landscapes and cityscapes.

EF-S 15-85mm IS is the ultimate vacation lens for crop much like 24-105mm on ff.

You won't be disappointed with that 24-70L.

The OP has a crop camera and wants to shoot Landscapes and Cityscapes. I think he would be VERY disappointed the first time he tries shooting a wide scene.

Especially if he only plans to bring one lens on his trip.

+1, this would be my choice.

I would get a Ultra wide like the Sigma 10-20, Tokina 11-16, Canion 10-22 and a walk around like the Tamron 17-50, Sigma 17-70 etc...

+1 .... ideal for a crop, despite being a little slower than the 2.8.

Might add a 10-22

If you want a constant f/2.8, I'd suggest taking a look into the Sigma 18-50 2.8 Macro and, as said, the Tamron 17-50 2.8.

Another +1 from me.

I own the 1000D and a 5D. The 24-105 is my most used lens on the FF (similar to the 15-85 on the crop). These days I only ever use the kit lens on my 1000D (use it when travelling light). As your kit lens is broken, I'm a +1 on the 15-85 because of the range in focal length.

It may be slightly out of your budget unless you can get a used one, but the EF-S 17-55 2.8 IS gets rave reviews.
