Looks like it's available for pre-ordering, ship date listed as 2/15/10!

I probably won't actually drop any money on this until it starts shipping, partially in hopes of a coupon (yeah right...) and partially so that some customer reviews can come out and shed some light on if this is a worthwhile purchase or not. Unfortunately it looks like my current monitor is starting to go, so I'm definitely hoping for no delays on the U2711!

Not a chance, it'll sell out as fast, if not faster than the u2410

I don't hate macs or OSX, I hate people and statements that portray them as better than anything else. Macs are A solution, not THE solution. Get a good desktop i7 with Windows 7 and come tell me that sucks for photo or video editing.

A very relevant discussion and something to consider if you get a Dell U2711 or U2410:

So I admit, I'm a bit confused. Is this monitor good or bad for photography? I've been looking at getting a AMD/ATI 5850 for my computer with a U2711, and I've been told the 5850 only outputs 8 bits, so should I not bother with any monitors that have a 12 bit LUT? Or only get a monitor with a programmable LUT? Or do I just get the U2711 and go "HOLY CRAP THIS IS AMAZING!!!" and be happy?

I'm undecided if my car needing work is a blessing or a curse, because it's delayed any fun purchases for a bit...more time for research I suppose?

The reason I posted this link is to invoke questions just like yours. I was actually considering an upgrade from my Dell 2209WA, but I've eliminated the U2410 and U2711 from contention. If I do upgrade it will only be a monitor with a FULLY CONTROLLABLE high bit internal LUT.
