I have a friend very highly placed in Canon here in Japan where I have lived for 20+ years. We talk and drink wine frequently. I showed him the photo. No way.

Well, next time your drinking wine you can pour him a glass from the 70-200 mug eh?

I'd rather Canon folks keep busy with hardware and software updates, rather than those silly coffee mugs I wouldn't want anyway.

I'm pretty sure R&D is a separate division from Marketing, so people will still be working on the 60D and all the other goodies we drool over ;)

They don't give the CPS stuff up very easily. Are you a CPS member?

I sure hope so.

I'm just a little frustrated with their iPF series wide format printer R&D people right now.
Don't mind me.

Well, I wouldn't mind paying for a Canon lens look-a-like mug. It would be quite a novelty. Especially for us Canon folks.

I emailed a regional sales manager at Canon. Here's his reply...

You had to be a photographer at the Olympics. That is the only way they were available.

Canon Canada has the mugs but we do not. We are checking into the possibility of them, but for now, there is NO way for anybody to get any.

I will let you know IF and when we can get them. It will not be anytime soon.

Best regards,

For those who have them, what does the box say? Made in China?
If I get one, I'll be sure to pour my friend a cheap mug of sa'ke! If really handed out in Vancouver and not authorized/licensed by Canon, not sure Canon will be so happy about that and loss of revenue as they get manufactured and sold.
Cheers,
John
