Got my 2209wa today. Not sure it's okay...

I have it set up with a 26" Asus monitor. The Dell was to be used for photos.
It does this thing, though, when I move a window around on it. It gets weird, has some sort of interference or something that makes the picture flicker and has black and white lines going here and there when I move a window around on it. Not every single time, and not as often if the window is small. There is no flickering when I'm not moving the window. I don't know if this means there is an issue with the monitor or if it's just what it does when dragging a window around.
Hopefully this isn't too stupid of a question and I hope I have made my issue clear. I am very tired and not sure how to describe the flickering well.
Haven't calibrated yet, still need to order something (can't make up my mind b/t the spyders or eye-one) but don't see how that could affect things.

Appreciate any tips or input.

Hmmm... seems to be worse with more white in the window. Now, this window is maximized and the bottom of the screen flickers occasionally when I am doing something, even if it is on the other monitor. Looks like this screen might be going back to Dell.

It also flickers when moving things on the other screen?? So weird.
It's going to the computer via DVI cable.

I'm anxious to see what others have to say about this. I ordered a pair of 2209WA's this week for an upcoming "monster" tower build in a few weeks. I hope it's not a bad batch.

Just so I understand....you have an ASUS 26'' and this new Dell 22'' set up as *dual* monitors?

First thing I would try is pulling the plug on the ASUS (temporarily) and running the Dell 22'' and the primary (and only!) monitor. See if this flickering business shows up when it's a primarily monitor. If the same kind of problem occurs there, then I'd pretty well convinced its a monitor problem.

I would be more curious about the video card you are using. Swapping monitors is the best first step to see if it is the monitor, but I would check to see what your card can handle.

If it only does it when you move a window around on the screen, then the problem is not the monitor.. it's the speed at which the video card and update the signal. The tearing or flashing has to do with memory updates on the video card. I have had that phoneonima with several video cards, and if you went to a faster card it would go away.

You can try reversing the monitors. Like, have the dell as the primary and Asus as the secondary. Also, consider the cables that you have used. Is the dell plugged into a SUBd and the Asus into a DVI? Check the cables to make sure that one cable isn't defective or not hooked up very well.

There are two ATI Radeon 5850 video cards running with updated drivers. Both monitors are running through DVI cables to the same card.
First thing I did this morning was disable the Asus to see what happened. Dell was fine as only screen. Then, tried with Asus as secondary screen and flickering happened on the Asus.

Ah ha!! They don't like crossfire. Thanks for the tips.
I plugged the Dell into the other card and disabled crossfire and looks like it's fine now! So glad it isn't the monitor.

Disabled crossfire? Is this a video card feature ON the video card? Why is it conflicting with photography workflow? Sounds like a PITA to have to turn features ON or OFF when going from photography to gaming. Am I understanding this right?

No. I just right click on the desktop to access my video card settings. Crossfire is only for gaming on this computer and it takes a couple of mouse clicks. I think it is just because the cards we have are so new that there are still a couple of bugs to be worked out. New drivers are supposed to be out soon that will fix the issue.
