Lucky for you they are cheap, so is the cable. Amazon has them for 6.00$

however that is a 6-pin connector

It does not matter the number of pins the firewire on the computer has in this case, as long as the cable has the right ends on it. If you were to get this card, you would have a 6 pin firewire-400 port.

With this cable, connect the larger 'male' end of this cable to your computer (the one on the right)

Now connect the small 'male' end of the cable to your camera (the one on the left) to the DV In/Out port on the camera

Then, you should be good to go. Best of luck! :)

Yep. Assuming that you do not have driver issues with the card and your computer can take PCI cards. Most desktops can though. The reviews of the card suggest it was working with Vista, and I assume 7.

For the GL2, I'm not sure of how the camcorders switches need to be set. On my Canon HV20, it had two settings, play and record. To do transfers, I needed to set the camera to the play settings.

Oh, one more thing. I would ask the person your purchased it from if they were particular about using wet or dry DV tapes; where they differ in lubrication. They might not even know, or care. However, many people will only use one or the other and its best to stick with one type, or at least that is what I've been told. A google search will tell you more.

I think I have driver problems. I took couple of pictures with my GL2 and to transfer pictures, I only need a USB cable. I connected the camcorder to my computer but it does not recognize my camcorder...

I'll tell you me experiences with the Canon HV20. Again, I don't know if this applies to you.

The HV20 when hooked up with UBS was not a mass storage device, which is to say, the memory card was not visible using finder in OS X, or Explorer in Windows. To access the card, I needed to open a photo program, such as ZoomBrowser, iPhoto or LightRoom and import it from there.

However, I did not do this very often, I found it much easier to use a USB flash card reader most of the time.

I will say that the photo quality of the GL2 is crap. I wouldn't get too hung up on using it, I certainly didn't. It's the equivalent of a 2.5mp point and shoot.

You obviously didn't read this post, did you? He clearly stated in the first post that he's read the manual. :p

if you read the premiere manual, it tells you step by step. I had a GL2, and premiere pro, and it told me step by step

If people are helping the guy and he really does not understand how is he hurting you... Just move along and spend your time looking up things in your manual and not sharing them with him.....

Have you stopped to think that he may really not understand the things that are in his manual? Sure he may be being lazy but I do not get that impression.. your just coming off very rude:cool:
