My 1510 with padded dividers. I have the extra batteries, remotes, filters, etc. in the lid organizer.

Nice setup Rey!

It's not the best photo but kinda of shows the size and distro of gear.

Nice setup Rey!

Thanks, this is going to be my dedicated travel gear setup so it's pretty much packed to capacity. Looking to get a 1620 for more storage space while home.

I'm thinking of getting one of these cases for my gear, mainly for when I go camping, and off roading.

I need to have enough room to fit a gripped 7D, 50 1.8, Canon 10-22, 24-70 with hood, 70-200 2.8 IS with hood, 580 II, and maybe a 1.4 extender if I have gotten it by then.

I thinking I will go with the foam and not the dividers for the extra protection for when driving on the trails.

Could I get some suggestions, on what size, model to go for???

1510 or 1520.

Dimensions are internal
1510 19.75"L x 11.00"W x 7.6"D 1.79"/5.79" W/Foam - 13.7 lbs
1520 17.87"L x 12.75"W x 6.7"D 1.81"/4.93" With Foam - 8.5 lbs

If you aren't going to be putting any heavier gear in it, Id just go with the 1520. If you want wheels or something that is FAA carry on approved, go with the 1510.

Finally got mine !

Don't laugh, LOL :)

A TON of wasted space.... for now. Have plans of more lens's, swapping Sigma 70-200 f2.8 for Canon 70-200 f2.8 IS, 100-400 IS, 300 f/4, 24-70, 16-35, 10-22, 15mm fisheye, etc. and maybe a 3rd camera, why you ask.... why not?
slowly but surely, too bad my 9-5 job doesn't pay better :(

oh yeah... its a 1600

I just had to update my Wasted Space Pelican 1600 photo....

Gear in here:
row 1) Tamron 28-75 f2.8 / Canon 16-35 f2.8L / 1D Mark II ( x2)
row 2) 4- 1D batteries / AA batteries / lens cloth, memory cards, etc. / 70-200 f2.8L IS
row 3) 550ex & 420ex flashes / Sigma 500dg Super flash & Sigma 2x teleconverter / Acratech Ultimate ballhead (in micro fiber silver bag) and Rocket blower / 70-200 tripod ring (in lens pouch), hoods, Gary Phong diffuser / Tamron 90mm f2.8 Macro (top) / neck strap & radio shutter remote...

Does your 5D touch the lid when closed? I have the same camera setup and when I tried standing the body up, the prism dome was extremely close to the lid top. Guessing a drop would impact the hot shoe, so I just keep the body in a bag while the rest of my gear is in the case. But if I'm mistaken, will switch back again.

I think you'd be 1 to 2 lenses short of making it happen. If you are thinking these including lens hoods then no way.

Sorry for cutting in, but I'n curious, you think he will be short one, or two lenses with peilcan 1510 with the foam, or with the dividers?

I'm just trying to figure out how much I would be able to fit in one of those...

I can only say with padded dividers from experience.

No it doesn't touch the lid. The lid with organizer closes fine without pressure as it did with the foam. I'm not worried about an impact because it is so close to a sidewall which provides extra support. If it was in the middle of the case with a full lid organizer then I might be concerned.

I use mine (1514) quite a lot these days. Fabulous quality case.
Here is my 'normal' use storage setup (with my 2 new toys: 135L + 580EXII).
