Even still....I look at mine, I am not well versed in PP stuff (I only use Lightroom and from time to time, Gimp2) and my shots come out like garbage - But regardless of that, you can still tell the difference between the 40D and 5DII.

I have a technical question - one that is more a curiousity than anything else. Is there a correlation between print sizes and the camera / MPs?

I am just curious on what the max "sane" size is of printing something taken with a 40D.

Well the more megapixels the less chance of you needing to upsize to do large prints. For instance, you can pretty much do a 12x18 print @ 300DPI natively on a 5DMKII. Natively meaning we don't need to upsize the image. Whereas on a 40D you'd probably need to upsize to get that resolution.

Upsizing is not always a good thing. If you need the detail, it can be lost in upsizing since you are basically making pixels.

That's the only difference i'm aware of. But i'm sure there are more technical people that can explain other differences as well.

Btw, Harm, post a link to one of your CR2's. Lets process the same image and see the difference in results. I'm willing to bet the difference you are seeing (especially on internet photos) is simply the difference in the way we process. Especially including sharpening.

I think it may be a good test. Before you pull the trigger on something else. ;)

Well of course it is a case of how you process things. Everyone has their own little ways. That, and not having Photoshop, or a decent machine (this laptop which is really a work laptop has a screen that makes all my colours look like garbage!!)

It isn't about pulling the trigger on anything, I am just curious and learning about limitations and how far I can push them or get up to them!

That and you have me stumped with a CR2 file! Never heard of it before.

Ah ok, I wasn't sure if you were attributing it more to the camera or not.

cr2? The raw file? Are raws not .cr2 on 40Ds? I don't have one, so i'm not sure, i would think they would still be cr2.

But yeah, anyway, just offering. :)
