a 85 1.8 is $599+15%tax here = $689 CAD; 654 USD
Versus on B&H I think it's somewhere around $389 USD..

and a 50mm 1.4 is $449+tax here = $516 CAD; 490 USD
$349 USD in B&H

I really want to spend more on this stuff but..

I use this site to track the best prices. I have never ordered any camera gear out of the US. I just checked the two lenses that you mentioned, and photoprice.ca shows that you can get them both cheaper than you listed from within Canada.

+1 on photoprice.ca -- their US price comparison (including all fees, taxes, shipping, etc) is very handy.

I buy from the US all the time, because the US Canon Warranty is also valid in Canada...

You should visit Dubai. Prices are ridiculously high.

Yep, Canadian prices suck on a lot of things. Like the LP-E4 battery. $285 cdn compared to $110 usd. Good thing my folks are snowbirds. They are always bringing back a whole shwack of stuff for me. :)

I used photoprice and it found the 85mm f1.8 was US$365 at Amazon.com. I read all I could find on Amazon's site to find the final price with shipping etc. The only way was to go through the complete purchase/create account etc and it came up with a error message that they would not sell/ship the lens to my address in British Columbia, Canada. B&H will sell to me, I wonder why Amazon will not? I quess I'll buy from B&H.

Is there an option to use paypal to checkout? Thats what I have had to use in the past. Or have it shipped to the US and pick it up, thats an option depending how close you are to the border.

Amazon.com won't send camera gear (or most all electronics) to Canada - which sucks because their prices are very good.

Yes, sadly, Amazon.com won't ship electronics to Canada.

(That's why it appears under the extra heading: "
Shipping is not available or could not be calculated for the following stores.")

That doesnt stop anyone close to the border from going to a postal outlet in The US for pickup does it. They wont ship to Canada but they might sell you one if u have a US address.

Lovely place BTW. I gotta head back to the North one day.

Not quite - Ft. Nelson is actually about 1800k from the border! I'm in Dawson Creek - Mile 0 of the Alaska Highway...
