I know youre in a sensitive position but I would have let them charge me with whatever they want. If they want the lens back, they can pay for it or talk to my lawyer.

Im terribly sorry to hear about the situation you got into. Its a real shame that people are like that in this world.

As a side note, I do find it particularly ironic (hypocritical maybe?) that so many people in this thread were thinking that the cop was fake and that it was all some kind of con, but yet are willing to send money to someone they dont even know. Just an observation...

I never thought the cop was a fake. Also, from what I gather, he never asked for money and even denied an offer for money from a fellow member on the second page.

Since I know that BucketMan won't accept any money from anyone here, I am working on setting up a way that anyone that wants to can contribute to buying a new lens for him can. It will be set up so that everyone can be sure that the money is only going towards a new lens for him.

Hopefully I'll find something out in the next 24 hours. I ask that no one else set up a fund until I report back.

I never said you thought the cop was a fake. I also never said he asked for money. All I said is that I find it odd that so many people were willing to call the cop a fake and that, apparently, so many people are also willing to send money to a man they dont know. Like I said, just an observation.
