I do shoot a lot of NYC races. I don't go to the Prospect Park/FBF training crits, but I'll hit the bigger races like the Mengoni GP, Grant's Tomb (didn't go this year because I was shooting a cycling expo that day), Staten CX, Hudson Valley CX, Lou Maltese Memorial, Tour of Governor's Island, etc. Dan Schmaltz and Andy Shen are buddies of mine and I'm a regular photo contributor to NYVelocity along with Marco Q. I'm from PA and shoot a lot of my stuff in Eastern PA, NJ, NY, MD, and DE- but mostly NY/NJ, and PA. I've been to Kissena in Queens and am planning on being there shooting opening weekend later this Spring.

I missed the Red Hook Crit on Sat. because my car broke down on the way there.

I saw sone of your shots on http://www.kissena.info/ (external link) Look at the header image- that's one of my photos (my real name is Anthony Skorochod).

Wow, you are all shooting all over....:) I thought the Red Hook Crit is this 28th??

About my shots??? I don't want to go into it but since I shot the race and shared them with the local racing community, I don't have problems of them using them. That's that. :)

Nope, that's last year link. Dave Trimble had this years race up on a different site: http://www.redhookcrit.com/ (external link)

Too bad you/I missed it. There was a spectacular crash on the finish sprint at the finish line when a photographer jumped out in front of the field to get a shot. He was hit and several riders went down. I would have loved to have seen that.

God only knows. I'll have to ask Marco who it was next time I see him. One of the riders broke her thumb in the wreck.

I would have strangled him with his camera strap either a Canon or Nikon.

I shoot a lot of Pro races as a member of the media. We always have an area selected by the promoter at the finish line. It's usually a piece of tape on the road that we cannot cross (for safety reasons). You'd be surprised how many *******s jump out from behind the fence just before the finish of the race and not only gets in the way of the finishing sprint, but ruins all the Pros shots. Most of us are paid to be there and whomever is paying us expects the finishing money shot.

Do you hop on a motor bike and taking shots? I would love to shoot Bear Mountain Spring and Fall races....but you can't even be in couple of places without riding on some vehicles to get there...

No, I don't ride on a motorcycle. The last Pro race I was at I rode in the media car. I can't risk getting hurt if I crash. To me, it's not worth it.

My gf went to Marist, I bailed after my tour of the place though. I loved the school, but it just wasn't far enough away from home.

It's like a completely different world. I visited UPenn a few times... you walk around wondering where exactly the campus is, then you realize the city is the campus.

Hahah Yeah at Syracuse you have a huge distinction. You know what is the university because it takes up a huge chunk of the town and literally sat on a hill. Interstate 81 literally divides the city in half with the university on the right side and the rest of the city on the left.
