Awesome rig....currently getting set-up list together and your post has helped me decide a little easier.

A couple of questions for you:
1) Why did you choose the smx10 over the Rode mic?
2) Is there a difference of the Matte Box from Indi and Sin City ?

I appreciate your help in advance.

BTW....are the JDM wheels for sale :) :)

calumet messed up an orger and i got 100 in credit, so i saidwhatever send me that
im going to be usin a h4n setup

big diff in the two boxes
indi is much better and i should have gotten that one

very nice..but 23lbs? That's pretty heavy, I think a monopod may suit best for longer shoots.

pretty sure your monopod isnt going to carry all this effectively, allow you to pan vertically and horizontally, or turn very quickly.

monopod is a one trick wonder

LOL I have the exact same rig as you indisysytem prorail with followfocus 2.0, and after playing with both I KNOW first hand what works...the monopod is way more versatile and doesn't weigh a thing. The damn rig is all for bling... LMAO!!!!!

may work for what you need
but a monopod woudl be terribly inefficient for me

I like the rig! it's true it looks like a monster with all of the shoulder mount handles and what not.

My question is mostly about that lilliput monitor you've got, how do you like it? does it give you good color matching? I've done absolutely no research on monitors since i've got to finish building my PVC rig before i can mount it on anything:D

do you ever have trouble standing on the left side so you can see the screen correctly but needing to reach around to grab that follow focus?

cool set up. definitely jealous you've got the funds for it.

John

if you can afford it, I HIGHLY recommend Redrock Micro or possibly Zacuto(priced too high for what you get)... I like Redrock better for some and Zacuto for others.

Redrock is the route I went as well as I found the Zacuto stuff to be just silly overpriced for what you get. The Redrock stuff looks A LOT better too IMO.

redrock was my first choice
but they dont ship to military overseas, so i boycott them

That sucks, but shouldnt have stopped you as you can find their gear at B&H, Adorama, and eBay for great deals.

Yea, I think there are instances where a monopod setup perfoms well, but IMO it is just another tool, not a single solution for all situations. I still think a shoulder setup is very handy depending on what youre shotting.
