My sympathies :p
How is the western island treating you?

Hot, sweaty, windy (after Ului), over priced, non-photogenic but well paid.

Very short, bald, English ones?

Surely you mean - taller than you, receeding, Welsh ones?

Planning to adopt then? :p:p:p

A mate living in Townsville said the whole "cyclone" was just a lot of hot air.

Have you Calibrated your Monkey lately?

Now more than ever we need to be a community, working together and for each other, as photographers, as lovers of photography and as members of POTN.

A woman in work didn't want to do something. She offered me 'anything' to do it for her. I simply asked for her first born child (as any good biblical King would do). Took her a few seconds to realise her first born is a very attractive 22 year old female. I'm now classed as a dirty old man for some reason.

No, Ului, according to the media was going to cause catastrophe from the equator to Antractica. Luckily it was a just hot air unless you were directly in it's path. We had higher winds in Invers!

Here you go Peter, quite long sorry.

Hey everyone btw! :D

Excellent excellent excellent!

I'm extremely happy for you Dave that you are getting encouragement and recognition for what you do and what you love doing. Seems to be a good alternative to the wanting to sell up all your gear and personal torments you where sharing with us about a year ago.
I personally think you are an extremely tallented, and sensitive photographer, so I'm happy that you seem to have found a niche that fulfills your desires without comprimising your beliefs.

So Arron stuck with the 70-200?
You can always borrow my 17-70 for the pre-framed look if you like

He always uses the 70-200 anyway :D We also have the 50mm 1.4

We're keeping the 30D (seeing as its had a new shutter) & the 17-55 :)

A bunch of Canon bits and pieces.

Just bought a 85 1.8, wasn't really looking for one but things just happen :(

Insert Tui ad here?

You've given it a run yet?
Got my brand new 2nd hand 70-200mm f/4 is last week, awesome lens:D

Geez, people are buying things left and right...

Paulos75 wrote in post #9859601 (external link)
It is the IS version, and plenty sharp enough considering that my other longer lenses are the pretty poor 75-300 and fairly capable 55-250. Used it this last weekend at the Tauranga Bayfair Triathlon and got a few nice ones, missed a lot though. But that was more from trying to figure out which is the best way to focus for portrait orientation shots. Still haven't figured out which is best, center point, top point or camera auto, any suggetions?

What MarkV said re focusing. Use the * to focus... get a battery grip if you haven't yet... One thing with AI you will need to keep the centre fp on the subject at all times... Or at least it's what I've been told...

There is always hope for all of us eh? That's why we shouldn't ever sell up our camera gear on impulse -- buy a can of V or a bar of chocolate yes... ;)

Just like digital SLRs made it too easy and took all the skill out of it...

Only if you use the green box, otherwise the principals and skill required are pretty much the same arn't they?
