Another Best Buy question

Some of you guys work there and helped with advice a couple weeks ago with my camera. Got another question.

BB has a price match policy as far as a lower price within 30 days of purchase they will honor the lower price. I got a 50d and Canon has now released a $100 rebate, thus the price is $100 less. Can I take in my receipt in and get the $100 credit?

highly doubt it because its not a BB reduction its from canon which only applies to cameras sold in the rebate timeframe

This is a manufacturer rebate. Most price matching offers only apply to advertised prices.

My guess.. and this is only a guess -- is that the only chance you have of having best buy honor the rebate is if you can show them an ad from a store that offers an instant, in-store rebate... and even then, your chances are slim

I think that in order for you to get the $100 in rebate is to return the item and rebuy again. Rebate must be purchase in the window of when it's offered and not before or after so I highly doubt BB will refund you the $100. Beside rebate is not consider price drop.

It never hurts to try.

In the past, people buying from B&H or Adorama several days before the rebates began were able to call up the store and have the rebates retroactively applied.

I don't know how long ago you purchased the 50D but it might be worth a shot. You may be able to convince BB to let you return and re-purchase; even though it's open the CSR may just let that slide. It costs them nothing anyway!

Whenever I have done that at my local Best Buy, the Customer Service Desk simply does a receipt return-resell without me even having to bring the actual item back into the store. That way the "open box" status isn't even an issue.

I would think any smart store manager would see that it is in the store's best interest to do that, rather than accept a sold item for restock while the customer purchases another one off of the sales floor.

I had a similar experience with the return-repurchase situation with Best Buy.

Last December I bought T1i with 18-55 kit lens for $800. A week later I found out that at the time of purchase, there was a promotion going on for T1i with the kit lens plus 55-250 for $900. I went back to Best Buy with only the receipt and told them my situation. They 'returned' my T1i with only the receipt and gave me the 55-250 and a new receipt after I top up another $100.

In my situation the restocking fee wasn't an issue at all. It never hurts to give it a try.

So I stopped by yesterday, and walked out with a GC for $105. Didn't even have my receipt, she looked it up. I got a little longer time since I was a Silver rewards member. Normal is 14 days, I got 45 days.

You are correct....they win by default! But I also have 6th ave electronics on long island and try to go there first just to spite them! lol I hate worst buy also!

You can always use Walmart/Target/Costco. The problem of course is that those store only carry Rebel in the store and rest of them in the online store. I don't think there is a big difference because I don't ever expect real service from BB anyway.

and crap customer service, a few weeks ago I ordered a laptop online and selected instore pickup, a while later I got an email saying they didnt have stock and I was like what the heck I just saw some there yesterday

went to the store they had 2 of them, BUT they wouldnt sell either of them unless I paid the ridicolous 70 bucks for the rescue CD's

went to another story and the same story again, 2 laptops and they want ludicrous prices for CD's that they just make replicas of anyway

so I am done buying anything else at best buy
