First day out with my new (to me) 70-200 2.8 IS. O man! I love it! Check out some of the shots I got and let me know what you think! The first one I think is the shot of the day.

Most of them were shot right around 1/4000-5000 @ f/2.8 (trying to keep DOF at a minimum) and ISO 200

Try bringing your Shutter speed down to avoid the 'parked' look and lack of motion in the wheels and tires.

haha...
Looks like one (#2) wasn't happy that you'd taken his photo.

As has already been mentioned, these would have been a whole load better if you'd slowed the shutter speed down and panned to shoed some movement and life to the image.

As they are, they just look like the the bikes are parked.

I should go shoot on Palomar Mt some weekend for fun. The background sure is a lot prettier than the dirt at Willow Springs. Nothing I can say that hasn't been said!

Nice set, my only comments regard the riders.

It always amazes me, the money guys will spend on their bikes and then not wear the right gear. Guy on the Repsol Blade, jeans and trainers!!

Then at other end you've the guy on the RSV, full Dainesi gear, with his pristine knee sliders.

Not too bad on the shots. However, I would slow the shutter speed down to pan a bit and get some blur in the wheels...it will show a bit of motion in the shots so they don't look like they are standing still. I also second the comment from Big G about the riders...as a rider myself, proper gear is of the upmost importance.

As many have already said I would slow down the shutter speed to get some more action in the shots. Also try and use a higher f-stop, the problem with shooting at wider aperture's like 2.8 is that it makes it tough to hit that sharp focus point. For example in the first shot the swingarm looks sharp but the rest of the bike and rider is a bit soft. I know it is tempting to always try for maximum DOF but sometimes it comes at the expense of softer shots.
I like how you composed #4 with the rider to the left of the frame. Nice shot that nicely illustrates road riding.
