Mar 22, 2010 12:21 | #4 Try bringing your Shutter speed down to avoid the 'parked' look and lack of motion in the wheels and tires.

Mar 22, 2010 14:19 | #7 I should go shoot on Palomar Mt some weekend for fun. The background sure is a lot prettier than the dirt at Willow Springs. Nothing I can say that hasn't been said! David

However, I would slow the shutter speed down to pan a bit and get some blur in the wheels...it will show a bit of motion in the shots so they don't look like they are standing still. I also second the comment from Big G about the riders...as a rider myself, proper gear is of the upmost importance. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Also try and use a higher f-stop, the problem with shooting at wider aperture's like 2.8 is that it makes it tough to hit that sharp focus point. For example in the first shot the swingarm looks sharp but the rest of the bike and rider is a bit soft. I know it is tempting to always try for maximum DOF but sometimes it comes at the expense of softer shots. http://www.stephenwclark.com
