Let me know what y'all think. Of these two:

I'll post some more as I edit them. Thanks! :)

Looks as if the subject in #1 was looking towards the sun, hence the squinting and not as comfortable and relaxed face composure as one would want. The crop is a bit too tight for my liking. It is neither here nor there.

As the person behind the camera, you should tell the subject when their posture is not right. For example, in #1, the model's back is slanted towards her right.

Oh, wow. I didn't even notice that. Thanks so much for the input. We're going out again on Tuesday so I'll definitely keep that in mind. There are just so many things that you don't realize about your own photos until someone else points them out. Thanks!

With #2, I'm finding the narrow space towards the right of the capture distracting. Perhaps either have a tighter crop, or go back a few steps so that you get that nice OOF background that takes up at least a third of the frame. I would have preferred a lower angle. That way, the subject's eyes are at the viewer's eye-level and you can also get some nice blurred background. Top-down portraits don't work in many situations.

I prefer #2. There is something natural about it. The WB is towards the cold side however.

Pick up on cues from the subject/model. And be ready to shout directions/instructions.

Typical of photobucket to screw up the jpg compression. /rant

Flash fill!

What's that white blob on the lower right corner? I would prefer that her clasped hands were in the frame as you've cut off her limbs!

Am I being too mean?

Yeaah, I hate photobucket

You know, I looked at this photo after I posted it (the last one that is) and thought, now what would someone on here say that I could change? And I though, "shoot, I cut off her limbs! I cropped it too tight." BUT, I didn't realize how distracting the "white blob" is. It was part of the gazebo by the way.

And no, I don't think you're being too mean. I accept criticism pretty well for the most part. Just as long as someone's not being a complete jerk.

Thank you!

I agree. I'm shooting her again on Tuesday so I'll try the eye level shots for sure!

And her necklace was driving me nuts! I hate when the chain is in the way. Grrr
