Here's what I got of some jets at the airshow yesterday. Still working on Helos, props, randoms, and the car show.

Number one is absolutely eye catching. An amazing shot.

Now why do the Marines have their planes in desert camouflage?

I was hinking the same thing. They still came out nice and sharp though, at least they appear that way on my iPhone.

Photo #1 for the win! All are fantastic shots.

Yeah. I think I'm going to print that one off. I was very happy that I got it. My camera was buffering and only fired off one shot when they were in front of the moon. The second shot is another one of my favorites as you can see the two back seaters taking photos from their end as well. I managed to catch a few people taking pictures back at us, one hang loose hand symbol, and one person in the back of a prowler hoisting up an american flag to the cockpit window.

Those are F-16's which are used for training I believe. Not for combat as they use the F/A-18 for that.

Rented a 100-400L for the weekend. Went to the zoo today with it and I'm going to be taking photos of the planes taking off and landing at the San Diego airport tomorrow before I have to take it back. Only charged $35 for the weekend for renting it. Not a bad deal if I say so.

Rented the lens, as explained above. I am very happy with the results. I got a bunch more (took about 1200 shots at the show) that I'm still going through. Got another 800 or so from the zoo today as well.

Nice shots...i'm confused by your first shot...i went to the show too and it looked like the blues formed up as 1 - 2 -3 (not sure what that formation is called)...similar to your shot#8 but your first shot seems to be the opposite of that? Some kind of weird illusion going on??

That is their Delta formation. The first shot was taken as they were due east rounding the first corner after the bridge. Because of the formation, the planes looked to be directly behind one another. As they flew by direct center in shot #8, the delta formation was easier seen. It's the same formation during the whole time. Just different perspectives.

Got ya!...awesome shot!...your location was a lot better than mine...i was in between Ferry landing and Tidelands park trying to get the bridge in some of the shots so i got a lot of underbellies during the show... :(

Sucks that there are no airworthy f14s left (that I know of) would be a sight to see, especially at an event like this, where i couldn't think of a more appropriate time!

I guess Iran declined the invite to come play...

Seeing the entire air wing of the Stennis go over as the finalé was a close second. ;)

Looks like you certainly got your money's worth out of the lens. Looking forward to seeing what else you came up with.
