I recently made it up to Muir Woods for the first time in 12 year. A few from the trip (more on flickr)

While I was there I could not resist revisiting one of my all time favorite images. Here is the original, taken back in 1998 I think with my Mamiya 645 Pro.

And here is the closest I could recreate it given the new growth and just looking at my iphone as reference using my 5D2:

From these, I like the second one best, with all the small ferns on the understory tree.

I've been using Muir Woods as example after we found 4 new world's tallest pines near Grants Pass, Oregon, because each one of them is taller than the tallest redwoods in that 500 acre park.

The redwood forests are still my favorite though.

had a chance to visit 18 months ago--great place. Sold my first ever print of a shot I took there, too. Fond memory.

Nice captures--especially the "before" and "now" shots--nice to see a place like that hasn't changed too much over time.

The second and the last are quite special. Contrasts of the curved and the straight.
