Which is the better photograph?

Need to submit some work, but only one twilight shot. Both a little hyper-realistic, two different subjects, two different settings.

I like both for different reasons. What say you, POTN?

both are good, #2 does more for me. like the action in the sky.

#1 for me. But both are great, it might make a difference if we knew the nature of the submission. The first one screams high end, the second more intimate.

Thanks guys. I left out what I was submitting for in the first post intentionally, but it's for a portfolio presentation to a client that does both commercial and residential work.

I guess I'd go with the second one if choosing between those two. The star trails feel out of place to me, in an architectural type shot; but the pool in the first one is SO prominent and blue that it completely distracts the eye from examining anything else in the image.

Just as a standalone photo without considering submitting it anywhere, I also think the second one's a more pleasant shot.

Both excellent shot's but #1 for me..

Will be curious to hear what you, ultimately, decide to go with and what the results are for you!

I like both quite a bit but ended up choosing # 2

#1 is stunning! I like it all..
#2 is also amazing, but very very different mood.nicely done on both.

I love number 1 and want to prefer it, just the pool is so distracting and draws all your attention.

I prefer 1, but I'd submit 2.

#2 - more unusual subject and the eye moves a great deal. That said, #1 is not at all shabby. Nice work.

...as long as you're playing, try cooling #2 a bit, see if you like it.

Agree...changed to no. 1

If you crop the first one as in your example in post #12, I'd change my vote to that one. That works a lot better, for me.
