there is no date code...

I knew this was the case with new 70-200 2.8IS II, but didn't know there would be no date codes for extenders as well...

Oh well, who cares... I'm just glad to finally test out the 2.0 extender with my 200L.

My 70-200 MKII does NOT have a date code. Canon has ceased this long time tradition if i recall in the 3rd quarter of the 2010 production runs.

Here is a long thread on the subject: http://www.fredmiranda.com …opic/950955/4#lastmessage (external link)

Huh, interesting. Well, mine definitely does, UY in fact. This is the first I have heard of then not doing date codes anymore...

I bought the MKII about a week ago and it didn't come with a date code. Instead, it came with a CD.

The 2X MKIII works nicely with the 70-200 MKII. IQ is certainly usable at f5.6 and the AF, provided that you aren't far too off focus (i.e. don't have to do a full rack), is decent as well.

I will definitely post pics when I get the results, probably later this week.

Hmmm, so I guess nobody really knows about the new extenders having no date codes...

I would assume since Canon released the new TC III versions specifically for the superduper new Great Whites all Date codes will be eliminated on L lenses & products associated with this grade of glass.

BTW, i got a CD with my MKII versus the paper manual booklet.

I recently saw an ad for a new EF 16-35mm II with a "UZ" date code. It must have been sold because it doesn't appear on "Kijiji" now.

City of Toronto. Kijiji: Canon 16-35 2.8 USM II 2.8 Lens Brand New UZ Date Code .
