I went to bed last night at about 10, and at 1 in the morning I was woken up by thunder and flashes. Ricky and I decided it would be fun to go out and see it so we drove to a high spot in the city and just watched the show. It was spectacular. I wish I had my camera at that time. We eventually got home at 2, and went back to bed. Then at 3 I was woken up again, because the lightning was right above us. So I grabbed my camera and headed to my porch at the apartment and captured these shots. This was my first attempt at capturing lightning.

WOW, most awesome shots, extremely well caught, looks like you took them through a window? Not easy shots to take. Kudos to you. :D :D :D :D

No window! Actually, I was out on my balcony. I assume you got that impression from the last shot where you can see the water drops "sitting" there. I noticed this too, and this is what I came up with: The flash from the lightning caused the camera to pick up the water falling from the roof. And since the flash was so fast, it froze it in time, lighting it up for just that split second to capture it.

Thanks for the comments!

Nice captures! What were your camera settings? We don't get too many events like this to photograph.
