Hello all, I currently use my rebel xsi along with my cheap lenses.Im not into video on my camera.Heres a few points im considering:

(1) New body that has faster shutter speeds- higher iso-better image quality- kinda of easy to pick up and use considering my time spent with the rebel.
(2)Will i have to scap my current lenses? If not my best choice thats worth the upgrade.
(3) $1000 and hopefully under for just the body.

Im not at the point of going all L yet thou im saving for that.

There is some time before my purchase so im really taking my time on this one.

I got lost in the search function for what im looking to buy.The 50 60 an 70 seem close but dont want overkill thats uselessfor my current lense setup.
Thanks

Canon is rumored to come out with some rebates on February 20th, so hold your decision until then!

Upgrade the glass! If you're having trouble in low light, having lenses that at they're logest given FL per lens has a aperture of f/5.6 of course you're going to have to bump up the ISO which will create noise. It's a completely capable body but you'll see a big difference in better glass along with holding better value.

Agreed. I have an xs and its fully capable of some decent photos just get some faster/higher quality glass and you'd be surprised. The plus side to lenses are that they hold value almost better than the bodies do. No point in upgrading just yet.

if you really want to upgrade your body, save up for the 7D. otherwise, get a decent lens for your xs and see the difference. any lens you buy will be compatible with a new body (unless you go full-frame). i went to a 17-55 from my 18-55 kit lens and cannot believe the difference, even with my T1i.

XSi is a good camera - you need better lenses before you go spending your budget on a new body.

I just upgraded my XSi to a 40D! So far, I'm lovin' it! Mostly due to the fact that ergonomics is so much better for me, the XSi felt like a toy compared to it. The 50D doesn't improve that much upon the 40D, and it still costs more.I got mine mint with around 9k clicks for $425.

I'm not a video guy either, but I highly suggest a 40D if you're not into video either. Haven't tested it at night yet, but I know the noise performance is definitely gonna be better, also the fps really helps if you shoot action.

Thanks everyone for your thoughts,I do love my rebel. But i take alot of inside church pics in M mode but just cant get it right>I was thinking a better camera would help. But can you get tac sharp with a lense with this body in low light. My kit lense seems to slow.My prime 50 is a good starter lense but it kinda long for upclose onn this crop body.
Im troop picture taker for my boy scout group. My 580 flash servers me well but some times i get the yellow shots in a white failrly open church. My Fong dong diffuser does work well but im still learning.
Any thoughts on a good lense for these shots.I cant afford my dream lense just yet 70 -200 IS.Seems to be the gold standard in these parts.

Thanks once again .Peace

Uusally M mode 1/60 shutter auto iso but i love F8 or higher to get tac sharp and it doesnt always work out.Im still learning but its all a learning process. If i get a 2.8 lense its faster but will they be sharp ?
Wrong section but whats a good no prime for these type shootings.

look into a Tamron 17-50 2.8 or 28-75 depending on your preference. Both have good IQ for the price and should be able to handle lower lighting ok. I use my 28-75 more than my 70-200.
