I have the opportunity to do T&I photos for a few sports teams in my area. I wanted to get some thought on a couple of topics.

1. Does anyone know of a place where I can get envelopes for orders? The envelopes would have the places to fill out name, address, etc. and the packet number. Is this a generic product that I can order, or do most people make their own somehow.

2. The shoots will be from morning to early afternoon, so obviously I need some type of cover. In your experiences what has worked better large tents (if so, how big?), or umbrellas with some fill light. Also, there is a possibility there will be no electricity.

I would look at www.millerslab.com (external link) they have packages for sports and school shooters... top quality work!

I started out using a regular 8.5x11 piece of paper as the order form and a business envelope. Since bought 8.5x11 with envelope attached you can run through your home printer, nice and easy and cuts down on paper. Though do believe it's a tad more expensive.

Tried the tents and hated it because you get a harsh shadow. Some suggest shooting in the shade with the sun at the back, but to me it's unacceptable in many cases, not all, but many. Usually try to shoot with the sun behind them and to the side, clean background, and light it with strobes/softboxes and portable power - not always an option, but running flash with batteries like that will drain them quickly. Never use the shade anymore, just as said, did not like it.
