When I try to access Preferences in Digital Photo Professional I get the following error message: "An error occurred. Digital Photo Professional will be closed." I click OK, and it closes as promised.

I tried deleting the program and reloading. No change. The version I'm using is the one that came with my 7D 13 months ago. And I'm running it on a newer iMac desktop.

Any ideas how I can change this and access DPP preferences?

Sure, I had a nice long explanation about how I would go about fixing your problem posted. Then I reread your post and you said you were using a mac. The solution I posted had to do with the registry which the mac does not use. Therefore my comment was not a solution to your issue so I edited my post and deleted it due to it not being relevant to the OS you were using.

I would try downloading and installing the newer version (3.9) after removing the present installation. If the updater asks for proof of possession of an earlier version, it should be enough to simply put the CD in the drive.

Or you could try to manually thrash the .plist file. It should then create a new one when you restart DPP.

How does one go about manually thrashing the .plist file?

What us the latest version for PC?
I have 3.4.1.1
If there is a more up to date version, is it on the Canon site?

Find it, select it, Cmd+backspace (or just drag to trash)
