Then I reread your post and you said you were using a mac. The solution I posted had to do with the registry which the mac does not use. Therefore my comment was not a solution to your issue so I edited my post and deleted it due to it not being relevant to the OS you were using. Please visit my Flickr

The version I'm using is the one that came with my 7D 13 months ago. And I'm running it on a newer iMac desktop. I would try downloading and installing the newer version (3.9) after removing the present installation. If the updater asks for proof of possession of an earlier version, it should be enough to simply put the CD in the drive. Elie / אלי
