My girlfriend gave me a rose (totally ignoring our pact of "not doing anything for Valentine's day" - boy did I walk right into that...)

Anyway, lovely subjects for photography. I was thorn between macro and still life, but decided on the latter. I'm glad I took some extra time for lighting. If you guys want a setup shot, let me know and I'll grab them of my CF card tonight.

#1 - I love a kicker light on flowers but it takes so freakin long to setup properly...

#2 - pretty basic stuff. Some processing with Nik software's Viveza 2 for extra "structure" and toning down the green.

#3 - even redder! - selective color (greens are b/w)

Nice and sharp rose. The tint looks a bit warmish though. May be its my cheapo work monitor.
Third photo is nice but not sure about the crop.
Love to see the set up when you get a chance.

Thanks for the comment, and no it's probably not your work monitor, while I was processing them I decided this was one of those times where I chose to override my common sense to set the correct white balance and I warmed it up by like 800k. The reds just didn't look "romantic" enough with the correct white balance ;)
The first one is close to correct though. On second look (and on another monitor), I might fine-tune the second one a bit.
I'll post a setup tonight :)
