Just managed to get out the other day and stumbled upon these critters! I haven't been out much as i dont like shooting in freezing weather. Lighting was pretty horrible in the creek and overcast.
1. When i showed up this one was on the bank by itself (it was the smaller of the two.. not sure if male or female?)

Those are just a few of many that turned out decently. I found it really challenging to get the exposure right with the snowy background and dark beaver! I bumped a few of them up .3-.6 exposure in LR3 and added a touch of fill light. Shot with t2i and 55-250mm IS, I managed to get pretty darn close, about 15 meters away just across the creek.
