The sun seems to be waking up.. The current sunspot number is 90 and it hasn't been that high since April 2006.

I took a shot today using a 7D and an EF-100-400mm lens @ 400mm. I used a home made filter made with Baader Planetarium film. There was quite a bit of high haze, but despite that you can see the two big sunspot groups fairly well.

Very nice, I like the texture and the details of the sunspots. Excellent capture.
Even if the sun light is white I like to play with the WB and leave it yellow, did you try it? It brings more contrast to the photo. Of course it's all in our brains.

Thanks.. The Baaden filter produces a white image, but I can change the color to yellow using a yellow layer.

Here's a smaller version that's be yellowfied :)

I'm very sure I just changed the WB to get yellow instead of white with my Baader filter. Did you try that from the RAW with DPP?

Is that sunspot 1158 in the southern hemisphere, where the CME/solar flare originated from?

What camera settings did you use?
