I am attempting to travel lighter than usual (usually I take 2 bodies 5D2 and 7D)

I am dithering between:

5D2 + 16-35 and 24-105 and 70-200 2.8

or

5D2 + 16-35, 50 1.4, 70-200 2.8 and 1.4 x

any opinions?

What about 5D2 + 16-35; 7D + 24-105?

Hadn't really thought of that - I like to take the 70-200 as I hope to do quite a lot of close-ups of the gaudi buildings ; but I suppose I could add the 1.4 with the 24-105 to get a similarish range; also won't be changing lenses so much - so a good idea.

Also, the 24-105 is a lot more discreet than the 70-200!

Barcelona is very very beautiful city; but also the only few places in Europe the street gangs target tourists without any restrain.

Black is better than white in this situation.

xtan is right. One of the reason for that is that even when thieves are caught, tourists are no longer there to testify and the thieves are released...

I know several people including myself who got robbed in Barcelona. Should be fine but you will have to be extra careful everywhere... I would also recommend a bag that is not that easy to open if you carry a backpack (e.g. some crumpler backpacks cannot be opened when carried)...

I have the lowepro 400 AW - and the camera can only be accessed from the back of it (by my back).
The only other pocket I have put a small padlock on. So far have been fine.

5D2 + 16-35; 7D + 24-105, flash

I also took the 1.4X which was no use as I can't use it with any of the lenses.

Left the flash in the hotel after the first day.

I also got a gorillapod zoom which has been great for some evening shots - I also use 2 of its legs as a brace on my chest when taking low shutter speeds.

I am really glad I took the 16-35 - its essential for architectural/indoor shots and makes the gaudi structures even more weird looking!

Was annoyed to find that the 5D & 7D were an hour different- I thought I had checked that they were the same.

Easy enough to sort in LR however.

I felt I had a good lineup when I went last October. Brought a 5D2, 17-40L, 24-105L, 35L and flash. I also had a 50D but it never came out of the bag. As long as you don't mind occasional lens changes I'd say a similar lineup will suffice. I didn't see the need for anything longer than the 24-105.

* bringing this thread back from the dead*

I'm heading out there next week. Thinking 5d2, 24-105, tokina16-28, zeiss50. Thoughts?
Also buying a Black Rapid RS-7. Should I be concerned having the camera out in plain site like that?

Thanks all! Getting close now... getting excited!
