I'd say 28-135 or 50 1.2
I've seen good, very good, bad and very bad copies of the 28-135. The very good ones are really sharp and the very bad ones are terrible.

The 50 1.2 with its extreme thin DOF needs perfect calibration to avoid back/front focusing issues so they often go back and forth to Canon until they are perfectly calibrated. I think this is because Canon can't calibrate the lens for ANY camera.

I feel extremely lucky with my 50L :P

All of the 50s really...luckily my 50L is awesome! :)

Same here, I LOVE my 50mm L 1.2, could shoot without it, wonderful color, contrast & sharpness, I do not have any of the issues that have been reported with focusing, as I do think that was with earlier models mine is a 2010 UY Date Code

i think the 50mm f1.4 has to be one of the worst...it gives off a 20+% AF issue rate...that's pretty bad....people will say the 50mm f1.8, but i think the number of issues with that lens is probably a lot less

Another vote for the Nifty Fifty. Wish I'd ignored all the people who said you couldn't go wrong with it.

I agree. I never fell in love with it like everyone said I would. I'm much happier with the 35mm f2.

Yes, the location & date your lens was made is stamped on the lens mount above the rear element...............

+1 for the nifty fifty, there was this strange glue substance caked onto the side of the lens, lens was completely new...

I don't know of the 50mm f1.4 is so much a QC issue but a basic design/component problem.
I haven't had any problems with initial quality of any of my lenses, but I do seem to recall seeing the most initial complaints with the 50L from people that were experience shooters having problems with the lens.

It was there to hold all the money you saved by getting the 1.8 over the 1.4. :) jk jk

But yeah, the 1.4 issues aren't QC issues. That lens just flat out has a big design flaw that causes the auto focus to die if you set the lens down wrong. A boon for those (not me) who know how to fix it!)

i still don't see how the 50mm f1.8 has quality control issues...i understand people not liking the lens...but you pretty much get what you pay for...the lens doesn't seem to have distinct issues between copies..

how so?...they all seem to have the same pentagram oof highlights...same spotty AF...the main problem i think most people have with the lens is shown in all the lenses...it's not that some are lighting fast to AF, and others are slow...i guess there's the claim that some make of it being sharp wide open, while others go against that...
