Hello,

I am looking for a nice compact "pack everywhere" shoulder bag that will carry just a few items:

1x Canon 30D mounted w/ either:
* Sigma 30mm
* Sigma 17-50mm

1x Canon 430EX II

4x AA batteries
1x BP511A

* Seems like the Crumpler 4MDH would work, but not sure how tight the fit will be. The 5MDH doesn't seem too big, but hard to tell from just pics of the bags. Wish I could find more of both carried by members. Searched for Domke bags comparable in size, but these don't seem to have a lot of internal padding. Trying to keep the size down to just what I need on this one.

Thank you & Appreciate any feedback. :)

For what you list (assuming you don't have a grip on there, since you didn't mention one) the Domke F5Xc or Ruggedwear F5XZ would be good. If you have a gripped 30D, I'd suggest the F3x as ideal.

Although I view padding in a working (carry) bag as unnecessary, the F5X series do have some padding on the front and back. I've been carrying my gear around in Domke bags for somewhere around 30 years and not had anything damaged for want of padding. And since my preferred Domkes (F3x, F802, F1x and F7) don't have padding other than a bottom board, they're much lighter and more conformable than the "shipping crates" other companies offer.

If you want to minimize size, the 4MDH will likely fit everything perfectly, perhaps a bit snug. The 5MDH will have more flexibility, and IMHO, is really not big at all and perfect for what you have. FWIW, I had a 5MDH filled with a 450D w/ a 17-50, and a 70-200, and accessories, and there was still plenty of room for a flash or another lens.
