I see what you were trying for, doesn't do it for me. Looks like it was shot passing the runway from a moving car. 5DMKIII, BG-E11 Grip, 30D, BG-E2 Grip, ST-E2 Transmitter, 70-200 2.8L IS[COLOR=black], 50 1.4, 16-35 2.8L , 500 f/8 mirror, 1.4x II Extender, Speedlite 580EX, CP-E3 Battery Packs, Lowepro Slingshot 200 AW, Gary Fong LSC

That nearest pole, especially being OOF, is just really distracting. If that pole weren't there it'd be a good, though wide, picture. Gear List

The approach lights are just part of the airport environment; however, if it were a telephone pole I might think differently. Denton

If that pole weren't there it'd be a good, though wide, picture. Which makes me think, if you had a wider lens, you could have shot from much lower, looking up, and waited for the plane to get closer... that'd be dramatic I think. Slightly impossible to be above the approach lights, lol. I was thinking about shooting from lower, but given that the approach lights were inaccessible, I thought this would be an interesting approach to the shot. Rick Denham wrote in post #11860627 attila hey man, been a while. i like the shot, gives it character. the only thing i may have done would be to have the pole to one side of the plane, as to not cur it off. btw, just checked out your blog, WOW! Alert NWT, that must have been unreal. I may have to catch up with you at CIAS this year, depending on who's coming. I was disappointed last year as pretty much the same line-up could be seen in Brantford, with a lot less hassle and better viewing. Rick! Definitely been a while, hope you're doing well! Thanks for the suggestion, I'll give it a whirl when I'm out there next. Attila P.

I think I understand what you mean, and I'll give it a try the next time I'm at an airfield where space isn't a limiting factor. Busted wrote in post #11865506 Any picture with a C5 is good for me! I like the idea of the photo! Good work. Thanks! Attila P.

Feb 18, 2011 23:00 | #11 I personally think the shot would have looked better had the C-5 been above the lights so that they don't block any of it, but I like it none the less 5DIII|24-105L|100L|135L|70-200L|28-135|430EX II|

Do you think it would be ok if the lead light would be to the right of the aircraft? kooimanj wrote in post #11871616 Would have been cool without the first red pole. That first post really tells you that the aircraft is actually coming into land on that runway.
