I just got my tamron 17-50 lens in the mail and why doesnt it mount onto my 7D?? do i need to buy a mount or something??

no, is it a Canon mount? e.g. not Nikon, Pentax, etc.

i know this is stupid question so sorry, but my 7D is right out of the box yesterday.... i didnt know if i had to buy anything in addition to attach a third-party lens

Nope, any lens made for Canon EF or EF-S mount will fit on the 7D. Are you sure the lens you bough is for Canon EF mount oppose to Nikon or Sony or something?

You dont. Take a look at the blue/white box the tamron came with. Does it say "for Canon" Anywhere on the box?

We all had to learn , even LightRules :lol: !

But did you buy the right lens ? 3rd party lens come in different mounts .
