....and this time is heading towards Texas. I hope all fellow Texans near the coast line have taken action to move to a safe place. My small apartment is ready to host a few friends/evacuees from Houston.

Hope the storm will weaken by this Saturday.

Good luck to everybody. Part of my family lives in SW FL and hurricanes are always a big issue here on my side of the pond. God bless you all.

I am about 30 miles East of Houston. My wife and kids left out this afternoon, headed North. I have to stay behind. The plant I work at, has designated my shift as the "ride-out-crew". So they are bringing in cots and food for us.

My family is in Dallas. Right now there is no threat of it coming that way yet but it still worries me.

Uhh.. I'm in Dallas and they are talking about up to 24" of rain, 40-50 mph wind, if it keeps it's current course. While certainly a light hit compared to others, thats a lot of water in a short period of time. Last word is it's a 4 now and will be a 3 when it hits, now they think north east of Houston, somewhere around the Texas/LA border. Low density there, let's hope they are right.

We have friends trying to get here from the coast, left at 3 AM, got 40 miles by 1PM.

Good luck to everyone.

I'm on business in Laredo. Was supposed to leave out tomorrow to fly home (to Alabama). Unfortunately, I'm on Continental Airlines, whose hub is in Houston. They've suspended all flights out of here temporarily. The only other airline out is booked solid. So, I guess I get to stay.

Fortunately, I had the foresight yesterday to extend my hotel reservation into the middle of next week, so that I wouldn't lose my room tomorrow afternoon.

Every time I walk through the lobby of the hotel, someone is in there asking if there are any rooms available (there aren't). Breaks my heart, knowing that pretty much everything in town is already full and these folks probably won't have a place to go (except for shelters). Not much anywhere else to go without driving a very long distance from here.

It's beyond my imagination. Even here in Austin alot of gas stations run out of gas, people also cleaned out the shelves in the grocery stores. I only saw this in some Hollywood movies before today. Scary..........
