They charged you $25 for shipping on a lens?

Originally, he said $9 in an earlier post. He didn't explain why he's saying $25 dollars now.

$15 to ship the wrong lens back to them and $9 for the original ship.

Over it...I just will not shop there ever again and make sure the people I know, know about the return policy.

So, it is really a $9 lesson as the $15 to return it was not their fault?

Canon 40D and more lenses than my wife knows about...

It's good advice for anyone shopping anywhere: Do a little research into various policies that may impact your satisfaction level. Don't assume anything. That would save us from seeing many of these threads.

Yep. That's your best bet. Don't shop there. B&H is a much bigger outfit anyways and Amazon has a TERRIFIC return policy. I don't shop at Adorama or B&H because I live in NY and don't want to pay taxes. I will only buy cheap things at these places, like bags, etc.

This is why i buy more and more from Amazon even passing up many local retailers who charge restocking fees just to deter returns. I don't mind since it's usually just a two day wait and for the money i'm usually saving $3.99 for 1 day shipping is often worth it.

Adorama's great! I've placed at least 25-30 orders with them and they've always been very accommodating when something was wrong.

They've given me nothing but first-class service!

mpix345, bps, and sigma pi, I don't know if you guys noticed, but this thread is about a (valid) complaint against Adorama, and your statements as given are irrelevant. I would open another thread and praise Adorama if you're happy with their service.

mpix345, you don't need to read the threads about Adorama (valid) complaints, there are many other posts that you can entertain yourself with. Or, just go and take some pictures for change... :)

Back to the post: I have had a couple of bitter experiences with Adorama myself. It was resolved to their satisfaction after endless e-mails exchanged with my favorite ambassador Helen. I just got tired of writing e-mails and got over it. But, I don't order from Adorama anymore. I guess that's the point.

By the way, is Helen on vacation, or went to work for another company? I don't see her fast replies nowadays...

Please point out my post in this thread praising Adorama. My point is completely valid: "Know the policy before you order", and "Quit whining because you didn't read the policy".

As for your advice, why don't you follow it yourself, or just keep grinding your axe, whatever you prefer...

I did not want to start an anti-pro argument. I was venting on, what I think, an insane policy for an e-tailer to use. I have never encountered anyone trying to recoup shipping from the original order...ever.

I have been in touch with Helen. I do believe she has helped many others before but I feel I just got the company line. I do not fault her though and I do not even know if she believes in that policy.

Live and learn. I carry on and shoot.

I did find the Sigma 8-16mm elsewhere and it is awesome!

If a store sets a return policy, they CAN make exceptions to it. When Adorama was using Bing Cash Back, I pre ordered the 7D, at 3% cash back, I then found out on here that people were saving 11%! I emailed Helen and got a call from Sam (owner?) He said that he canceled my order and told me how to place the order to save the 11%. That was my first purchasse form them and their has been many more since. Adorama is my first choice now and B&H is second. I never had a problem with B&H but feel that Adorama went above and beyond the meaning of good customer service.`

Yeah I hear ya, it really is a PIA when not everyone has the same opinion as you of something and then they go and voice it.
