Anyone recommend me any good panorama stiching software?

I find photostich, although to be a good software but the final resolution appears too small..

satnitefever,

Through posts, I hear Panorama Factory is the best. Here is the link below, they let you try before you buy.

From a review in C'T (German computer magazine) Panorama Factory comes out very good.

It can make really good panorama's right from the start. If you got 'difficult' pictures everything can be fixed to make a perfect match, but that takes some learning and experimenting.
You can see an example of what I made at
http://www.xs4all.nl/~bstolk/JavaPano200.jpg (external link)
It's not perfect yet (pieces with light/dark exposure), but that's due to me. It can all be fixed in Panorama Factory.
This is not a typical panorama though: I moved the camera for each shot, where normally you're shooting from a tripod.

There is also a package called PanoTools by Helmut Dersch which is free. It's supposed to be really good, but I couldn't get it to work on my computer.

And then there is www.panoguide.com (external link) where a lot of stitching software is reviewed (some reviews are a bit old).

Good luck,

Bart

I use Videobrush Photographer; I find it excellent. Unfortunately the review below says it is no longer available! I'd have a search round the web for it...someone somewhere will have it.

Yep, that's right: well spotted! It's where I live ;-)a You've been visiting Amsterdam?
Btw. I checked out your website a bit: I like your Metropolis picture, gives a dynamic atmosphere of the big city. I'll have a look a the rest when I'm on a faster connection.

Since I'm very low-tech, and the G3 is my first digital, I'm just wondering what added panorama software does. Why is added software needed? Any recommendations for sights that would be most informative on camera software?

Thanks for any help.

Well, I'll try to explain as low tech as i can and hope I don't confuse you...
To make a panorama, you stitch several pictures together into a big picture. But the lens of normal camera's are designed to make 'flat' pictures: rectangles (e.g. a building) stays rectangular. If you try to stick these pictures together, you'll see they don't match very good at the edges.
The panorama software distorts the pictures into a spherical picture, so the edges match perfectly.
(Suppose you want to stick large flat pieces of wood to the inside of a large sphere, the software 'pushes' the flat wood into the round shape of the sphere.)

Thanks for the explanation. So, I guess that explains why Canon suggests overlapping the stitched pictures for panoramas by 1/3 to 1/2--attempting to minimize that issue of picture edges. I'd guess the added software, such as Panorama Factory, further refines what the G3 produces?

Actually could we do panorama stiches over photoshop?

It is a bit ironic that photoshop is a digital photography tool yet they don't have a panorama stiching ability...
