I just recently got a HP Dream Color from a buddy brand new in box. I havent opened it up yet, wondering should I keep it? Is it really good for photo editing? Or sell it and use my 24" gateway 1080p monitor? I have a great I7 Pc, 10 bit processing GPU, soi could use it to it's potential.

I am strictly an amateur right now, but my dream is to get published one day. Any help I'd really appreciate it alot

That's a nice chunk of equipment. As far as your question, well only you can answer that. Just remember "A bird in hand is worth.....

Well, you know what they say about these... But since I'm a nice guy, I'll bite the bullet and take it off your hands for $100. I'll even pay the shipping.

take your buddy out for a slap up meal every week for a year for what he's done for you!

you could sell it and get a lesser screen and then purchase a couple of L lenses as well..

Hey now, it's selling for about $400 off, and HP does call it a "uniquely affordable" monitor -- so for $2500 we should all be lining up:)!
