He is probably shooting bracketed exposures so that blending in an "under exposed" sky is easier in post. Some shots look like her has a graduated density filter. A polarizer will make the sky pop more too...

First, those aren't your images so IMAGE POSTING RULES only allow you to post links to them.

2nd, that sky isn't extreme & you could get that effect with one RAW shot & blending two conversions together.

3rd, since you aren't sharing your own images, I have to move this thread to talk.

FrankC - 20D, RAW, Manual everything...
Classic Carz, Racing, Air Show, Flowers.
Find the light... A few Car Lighting Tips, and MOVE YOUR FEET!
Have you thought about making your own book? // Need an exposure crutch?
New Image Size Limits: Image must not exceed 1600 pixels on any side.

in one of his posts on the final image, he says it was one shot, not bracketed, the sky isn't blown out horribly and like photos guy said, the sky isn't to extreme looking so its definately possible without multiple exposures.

It looks like a layer with the everything but the sky masked off, change the blending mode to either multiply, overlay, or linear burn which boost some contrast and darkens. Maybe darken the sky further from there depending on how it comes out. and again like photos guy said, you need to be shooting RAW to do that kind of thing with one file.

I did something similar, not quite the same but close.

I saw in one shot he said he had 3 Alienbees lights, so in the darkness part, that's probably what he did.

EDIT: Maybe adjustment brushes?

Likely shot in RAW; Adobe Camera Raw is pretty powerful for making adjustments. You can better the exposure of the sky by lowering the blue channel luminosity, even change the hue/color of certain colors (eg, green leaves to orange). There are plug-ins that can accomplish this as well.

He spent a lot of time selectively replacing colors.

Doubtful. I'd bet money that he spent all of 5 minutes using plug-ins from Nik Software to edit the entire thing.

I own that. You might be right. Does not explain the trees well, though, nor the shift in the shadow of the car. Interesting idea at it could be one click. I wish I could finned that click.

The "Indian Summer" effect of Color Effects Pro 3 will change greens to red or orange

The shadow is a result of the contrast change in the blues

I got almost same shot by getting the orignal, quick mask the sky, have it selected and went to curves and played with the RGB curve and lowered it. Had a very similar effect. Did the same thing a little bit on the bottom half and had similar effect.

This is off subject, but Owensi, You have a different set for every date on your flickr, with like one picture in them. You know, it archives them for you right?
