I think I just stuffed up an image.

The image is an old JPEG where the composition was OK but the exposure was a bit washed out. I opened it in Camera RAW 5.0 in CS4. Made some exposure changes etc, and then saved the image as a new .jpeg.

I did a check to compare the images and found that the original .jpeg, the new jpeg and the RAW all look the same.

I probably did something wrong when I saved it. I was hoping to save the original jpeg and only the new one with the changes.

Does the file save some data that relates to all the images?

Welcome to POTN.

RAW files are never modified. Only the associated settings are.

Go back into Camera Raw, open the raw file, press and hold the CTL key, hit the button lower right which now shows 'reset', and you should be back to where you started.

I can't tell from your post whether you have a RAW file or just a JPEG you started with -- If it was a JPEG, if you did not save over it, then you can do the same thing (reset) by opening the 'original' JPG.

If it is a RAW file, you can do hat S. Horton posted and no worries. If it is a .jpeg, always make sure you keep an original separate and work only on a copy.

Um... Hi
