Hello thanks for taking time to look at my post.
I have a Canon A1100 IS and my battery door will not shut. I do not believe that it is the door that is at fault though. I am missing a plastic latch to hold the door in place. Is there any way of getting this fixed? It is the latch that would be directly between the battery slots. Please help!

Depends on what you want to pay, and how handy you are. You can usually buy the parts through Canon; in the US, Canon Parts will even work with you to find the part or subassembly you need. If you send it to a repair center, you're also paying for highly-skilled workers even if it's for a fairly simple-seeming task. A local camera repairman may be less expensive than Canon.

I am now having same latch problem with same model for 3rd time. Only positive thing is that Canon service has been responsive and has not charged me anything. Hopefully this time I can get a more permanent repair.

Seems like a common problem.I have the same on a A.580 and a SX110IS.Using elastic bands to secure the batt latch.
