Hey Guys,

I was just wondering... Have any of you used an APC battery backup for portable power for your strobes? I was thinking of giving it a try and seeing how it would work...

What do you think?

I have several large 1500W to 3000W APC UPS's and although they are great for keeping my electronics live for hours after a power failure, they won't work very well for you. THe problem is, once you unplug them from the AC mains, you have to leave them running in order for them to keep generating 110V output which will kill the batteries unless you are very close to wherer you want to us them to power your lighting. If you shut them off, you can not turn them back on unless you are feeding them with AC.

Have you ever considered a small Honda Inverter Series Generator? They are small, light, produce AC as cleanly as most UPS's and do not make very much noise. And can run for 4 to 8 hours on a couple litres of Gas. http://hondacanada.ca …s=Inverter&Model=EU1000iC (external link)
