LOGO / Signature

Can any one direct me to a good way to design a signature or A logo for my photos. Or is it like a clear layer made in Photoshop.

When I made the following I downloaded a font and used cs5. Then did layer style(bevel, emboss and some stroke...maybe other things that I forgot. I just messed with it till I liked it)
One of these days I'll get an actual logo, but until then I'll stick with words.
But anywho, that's what I did...
