Even though the A620 has no high ISO and no IS,
it has excellent color balance and image quality.
The Ixus 105's small sensor is no match for its vibrancy.
Too bad Canon (and other cameras too) stopped using
large imaging sensors in low budget cameras, and now
save them for the high end ones only, like the S95, for one.

Thanks for the relpy that does explain it very well, I just thought that being a newer camera by several years that the image quality would be similar but it's not by a long shot!

My son uses the SD1300 IXUS 105 and my wife uses a SD1100 and the results are quite good. I have a SD990 (same size sensor as the 620) The only real difference is I can enlarge mine larger or crop more. We get very good results with all of them. I will admit they are a little more sensitive to settings than than to older lower MP sensors were and you need to keep the ISO down to the lower end. You must remember when new the 620 was selling for $400 US and the S95 is also $400 where as the IXUS 105 is in the $105 range
