Hy y'all...
I certainly am not an expert on Canon products.
I am the happy owner of a 50d 40d and 20d.
I have owned a 5d in the past..when I first came to the light side from Nik.
It was quite different, and I sold it...kept Nik for a while..than made the transition.
ANYWAY...I have a few bucks burning a hole in my pocket.
I have been reading and searching info on the 1DsMark11,,,and the 1D Mark III.
In the used market they are somewhat close in pricing.
i HAD BEEN looking at perhaps a used 5DII..but am having second thought.
I don;t need video...heck I dont even use my iphone for video.
Mostly shoot ducks in the back yard..in the garage 'studio'..and gatherings at church, etc. Hobby stuff!
SO can someone point out the plus and minues of these two choices..and help me understand the properties that are different/the same on the two larger bodies.
I thank everyone in advance.
KEN

Don't get the 1Ds Mark II. It's missing quite a few features I consider key for a modern cameras (live view, sensor cleaning, HTP, spread out cross type focus points, microadjust). The 1D Mark III is an excellent body with high-iso, but I might consider selling the 40D and 20D if I got it.

Though realistically I would be looking into a 5DII over the 1DsII as my full frame option.

Those features are nice but useless if you don't use/need them. :)

I have both cameras and the 1ds MKII is usually my go to camera unless I do sports or travel, then I take the 1dmkiii due to battery and a bit lighter. But for your application, I think the 1D MKIII is better fit.
