Enjoy. I wish I knew what these were, but I only know they are beautiful machines.

San Diego, February 12th, 2011.

Nice shots
The Fury looks like a Sabre with odd wings from this angle

I was along the waterfront (by the Star of India) and then over toward the park. It might have been Bob Hope Park, but I'm not sure.

The statue is a replica of the scene from Times Square, New York on VE Day or VJ day (I forget which). Some Navy dude grabbed some girl and kissed her.

Thank you. bw!

Have the Hawkeyes had an engine update? I don't remember a scimitar blade on them before?

A few more from the same air parade. Each plane took off three minutes apart for a couple hours.

It ended with about 45 F-18s in formation screaming overhead. I'd never seen that many fighter jets in the air (although I'm sure many Iraqis have), so I didn't process any photos of it.

I had my 100-400 lens in operation and couldn't change lenses quickly enough to get the entire formation of F-18s, so I was only able to get a few at a time. Nothing too great. I'm sure someone got it on "film".

Feel free to identify these aircraft. I only know jet, prop plane, etc.

That last photo, when blown up, clearly shows the guy with a foot on the wheel and a foot on the throttle. He has a 100-400L in his lap.

And the statue was based on this photograph (permitted to be copied and pasted per Fair use as determined by Wikipedia).
